Transcriptional response of rice plants to a diverse set of soil microbial communities

Using rice as a model, we have analyzed the transcriptional response of young plants to the assembly of microbial communities in their roots. In order to dissect this complex set of biotic interactions, we implemented a semi-hydroponic method to grow seedlings in the presence or absence of compositionally distinct communities.
