Description
To explore the relationship between expression variation across Ensifer strains and the variation due to its plant host, three Medicago truncatula accessions (HM056, HM101, and HM340) were treated with two different Ensifer strains (E. meliloti KH46c and E. medicae WSM419). Treatments also included co-inoculation of Ensifer strains, no inoculation and the presence or absence of added nitrogen in the soil. Additionally, one root sample and one leaf sample from M. sativa CADL (diploid alfalfa HM342) were included in this experiment. RNA was extracted from leaf, root, and nodule tissues 32-days after planting in a greenhouse environment.
