Description
With the pollen grains in the same plant, stigmas of flowers pistils (SFPs) show SI, and stigmas of buds pistils (SBPs) show self-compatibility (SC). SI is based on self/non-self pollen-pistil recognition and then inhibition of self-pollen hydration, germination, or pollen tube growth. However, there seem no pollen-pistil recognition interactions in bud. The molecular mechanisms underlying differences of seed setting ability with different developmental stages after self-pollination in stigma of broccoli has not been reported previously. The study of the molecular mechanisms through which these stigmas respond to self-pollination is of fundamental importance in broccoli biology.
