Developing nitrogen efficient cultivars are essential for achieving sustainable and productive agriculture. The nitrogen use efficiency of plants is highly dependent on how environmental and genetic variation interacts to produce adaptive phenotypic plasticity. In this study, using transcriptome sequencing, a comprehensive genotype × environment interaction analysis was conducted for two maize inbreds grown in two different field nitrogen conditions.
