Root hairs play important roles in the uptake of water and nutrients. The rth6 mutant shows hairless phenotype while the wild-type has normal root hairs. To cloning rth6 gene which disrupt root hair development, the RNA-Seq experiment for rth6 mutant and the sibling wild-types roots was conducted to mapping the rth6 and analyzing the differential expressed genes (DEGs) between them; Meanwhile, The RNA-Seq experiment of roots (roots with hairs), the root hairs, and the hairless root on maize B73 was also performed to discover the genes differential expressed in root hairs and the hairless root
