Hyperaccurate mitochondrial translation increases cellular proteostatic capacity

To etsablish how changes in mitochondrial translation accuracy impact cell physiology, we generated and analyzed mutants which increase or decrease translation accuracy. Hyperaccurate mitochondrial translation activates a retrograde signaling pathway, thereby increasing cellular proteostatic capacity. On the contrary decreased translation accuracy provokes hypersensitivity to stress.
